We are quickly approaching the half-way mark of this year. Now is a great time to reflect upon where you are in the goals, and the hopes, that you have set for yourself this year. And for those who may not have set any goals, there is still time remaining in this year for you to accomplish some things that are important to you.
It is essential, in my opinion, to pause, to think, and to simply check-in with yourself on a regular basis. Time often passes so quickly. In fact, it never stops. Since time doesn’t stop, we are the ones that have to stop, to be still. It is always my goal to be the captain of my life: to steer my life in the direction that I choose to go. The alternative would be to merely exist as a recipient of life, just allowing it to happen, with me on the receiving end. Of course, this is actually inevitable to some extent. Life does just happen. There are things that we experience, that we have absolutely no control over. Even still, I choose more for my life. And the reality is that each of us has the ability to take charge of our lives, and to determine our own paths.
In the first couple of days of this month, I decided to do a mid-year review, examining my goals, and things that I’m working to develop and to accomplish. I began this process by taking some time to reflect: taking an assessment of where I am, and the areas that I need and/or desire to focus my energy. To help me in this process, I created a document to use as a tool to capture my thoughts, needed improvements and to record actionable items. In the process of doing my assessment, I thought to myself: why not share this with others? So, I decided to make this available to you, as a free resource, available for download.
The assessment is divided into two parts: the assessment, and actionable items.
Basically, this is just a part of goal setting in which you identify where you are, where you want to be, and the steps/actions that you need to take to get you there. This is a general assessment and can be used in various areas of your life, including personal development and well-being, business, etc. I began this assessment at the beginning of this month, but you can begin it on whatever day you choose, and create actionable items for thirty day increments of time.
I think that life is about growing, evolving, and being and becoming the best version of ourselves. And during those times that we fall short of our dreams and goals, or life knocks us down, we always have the opportunity to reset and to begin again.
I hope the assessment helps you, like it has helped me. I really love mind maps, and developmental tools to help me sort and organize my thoughts, creating clear paths of actionable items. For the remainder of the year, I’ve decided to complete this assessment once a month to gauge and track my progress. Hopefully, you will find it helpful as well.
