Small Actions Have Impact

diligent – adj. constant in effort to accomplish something; attentive and persistent in doing anything

There have been plenty of times in my life where I’ve felt that if I couldn’t do something seemingly big (to me), I did not want to do it at all. It’s sort of like having the mindset: If I can’t do it all; if it’s not perfect, then I don’t want to do any of it.

However, what I’ve since learned is that small actions matter, over time. For example, let’s say that there’s something that you need to organize, and it’s a big job, but you can’t dedicate the needed hours, or days, to organize it all at once. However, you do have 10-15 minutes a day that you can commit to work on this project. If you consistently commit those 10-15 minutes a day to this task, you will eventually get it done. And not only this, you will feel good about yourself and become more motivated because that space will begin to transform, little by little, becoming more organized. These transformations will motivate you and provide you with the momentum to keep going.

Consistent, seemingly small, actions make an impact, over time. This principle can be applied to so many areas of your life, such as in my example of an organization project. Other areas of life that it can be applied to include saving money, paying off debt, losing weight, etc.

We often want immediate results, and instant gratification. But the reality is that most of life does not work this way. So much of what we do in this life is a project, meaning that there are numerous actions that we must take before we can accomplish our goal. Additionally, there can be instances where the amount of time and work required to complete the project is so intimidating, that many people won’t even begin. It may seem or feel impossible to them, and they doubt their ability to accomplish and complete the tasks that are needed to improve their lives.

The most important thing is to know what you want, not be afraid to go after it, and to just keep going.

He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich. Proverbs 10:4
